Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you’re using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is here: https://automattic.com/privacy. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes visible to the public next to your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the site (e.g. in product discussions or reviews), avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as visitors may download and extract this information.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience—so you don’t need to re-enter them later. These cookies will last for one year.
When you visit our login page, a temporary cookie is set to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
When you log in, we also set up cookies to save login details and display preferences. Login cookies last for 2 days, and screen options cookies for 1 year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for 2 weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
If you edit or publish content, a cookie containing the post ID of the edited article will be stored. This cookie contains no personal data and expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles or pages on our site may include embedded content (like YouTube videos, Instagram posts, or product widgets). This content behaves as if you visited the original site.
These external sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content—especially if you’re logged in to those platforms.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the password reset email for verification purposes.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, both the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
If you register for an account, we store the personal details you provide in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete your info anytime (except your username). Site admins can also view and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an export of the personal data we hold about you, including anything you’ve submitted. You may also request the deletion of your personal data, except information we’re required to retain for legal, security, or administrative reasons.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be screened using an automated spam detection service to protect the site from unwanted content and improve moderation.
